Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli held a telephone conversation on Thursday morning. The two exchanged greetings for the New Year 2016 in a 20 minute long conversation, according to PM's press advisor Pramod Dahal. The premiers' conversation focused on Nepal's present political situation including Madhesi agitation and blockade at the Nepal-India border. While PM Oli requested Modi to lift restrictions at the Birgunj-Raxaul border point, the latter reiterated that there was no obstruction from the Indian side at the border points. Modi said all border points except Raxaul-Birgunj were free of any obstructions and that problem at the border was due to protests by Nepali political parties. Likewise, Oli thanked Modi for welcoming the tabling of the constitution amendment bill in the parliament to address the demands of the Madhesi agitation
