The bus, carrying over 65 passengers, was on its way to Ukai in south Gujarat’s Tapi district from Navsari. It fell into Purna river after crashing into the iron railing of the bridge, k!lling nearly 36 people and injuring several others who were admitted to different hospitals in Navsari. The fire department and health department officials and police rushed to the spot and started rescue operation. Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Anandiben Patel has announced Rs 4 lakh compensation to the kin of each of the deceased. She tweeted, “Deeply pained to learn about the unfortunate bus accident on Purna River Bridge in Navsari.
